Caroline Boudoux
Co-Founder & Co-president
Caroline Boudoux is a Professor of Engineering Physics at Polytechnique Montréal and a founding member of Castor Optics. She is also on the Board of Meetings for OPTICA and the Board of Directors at Institut National d’Optique (INO), a Fellow of SPIE, and a member of the COPL. Caroline has authored three textbooks in optics and engineering and contributed to several edited books, publications, and patents. Her areas of research include biomedical imaging, optical coherence tomography, confocal and nonlinear microscopy, and endoscopic imaging.
Nicolas Godbout
Co-Founder & Co-president
Nicolas Godbout is the Director of Engineering Physics at Polytechnique Montréal, Director of the Transdisciplinary Institute for Quantum Information (INTRIQ), a founding member of Castor Optics, and a member of the COPL. Nicolas has over 20 years of experience leading academic and industrial teams in developing fiber optics components. He is an inventor on more than a dozen patents. His research interests include nonlinear and quantum optics, fiber lasers, fiber-optic component design and fabrication, and telecommunication.
Alex Cable
Co-Founder & Board member
Alex Cable is a founding member of Castor Optics and serves on its Board of Directors. Alex, founder and CEO of Thorlabs, has grown Thorlabs from a fledgling basement business founded in 1989 to a thriving global industry leader. Thorlabs offers extensive photonics products, from small optical and optomechanical components to cutting-edge instrumentation and integrated photonic solutions such as novel biomedical imaging systems.
Normand Brais
President of the Board
Normand Brais is a founding member of Castor Optics and holds the position of President of the Board. Normand holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal. He has founded several successful technological companies in fields as various as atmospheric pollution reduction for power plants, biomass combustion systems, air and surface disinfection for hospitals and buildings by germicidal UV irradiation, and anti-legionellosis water treatment.
Lucas Majeau
Director of Operations
Lucas Majeau is a physics engineer and technologist with expertise in designing and manufacturing specialized fiber optic structures and couplers. At Castor, he leads the R&D and Operations teams, driving product development such as the Double-Clad Fiber Coupler and Wideband Multimode Circulator lines. An inventor with multiple patents and contributions to scientific literature, Lucas is passionate about developing technologies that enable innovations that shape our society.
Kathy Beaudette
Director of Business Development
Kathy Beaudette brings a background in physics and biomedical engineering, with expertise in biophotonics and the development of next-generation fiber-based imaging and sensing systems. As an accomplished researcher with numerous scientific contributions, she has chaired Optica conferences and served on the SPIE Scholarship Committee. At Castor, Kathy leads the company's vision by forging impactful collaborations and partnerships, driven by her passion for connecting Castor's innovative fiber optics solutions with the evolving demands of the photonics industry.
